Barry & Bridget

Tamed semi ferals

Barry & Bridget have only been living with us for a few short weeks, and about 9 months ago, this young lady & gentleman were malevolent 14 week old semi-ferals!! Having been born to an unsocialised mother who was being fed by an elderly gentleman, they were trapped. They needed a lot of veterinary treatment for a very nasty digestive problem before being neutered.
Bridget was rehomed along with her bother Barry. These two and a third youngster called Belle were caught in our feral trap. They needed a lot of veterinary treatment for a very nasty digestive problem before being neutered.
Sadly, Belle had to be put to sleep, but Lynda (our feral handler) persevered with the other two. By the time the digestive problems had been sorted out and both had been neutered, the next step would usually have been to look for a home at a farm or stables for this pair, but Lynda’s patient approach had begun to have some effect, and she was beginning to wonder if a domestic home was a possibility. After some discussion, they were moved to one of Rose’s pens, and the socialization continued – which is where I stepped into the picture some time later. My youngest cat was very much in need of younger playmates as her antics were a bit too boisterous for my more mature feline.
