How we work

At workAt Cats Protection, we help more than 230,000 cats and kittens every year thanks in no small part to our network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and one homing centre.

These include the charity’s flagship adoption centre in Chelwood Gate, Sussex where our administrative offices can also be found.

Cats Protection is governed by a Board of Trustees which, in turn, is advised on its decisions by a Council of appointed representatives of the charity’s membership.

Branches

Cats Protection has over 250 branches across the UK. These branches are run by volunteers, often from their own homes. Branches take in cats and ensure that they receive all the veterinary care and attention that they need to help them get back on their paws.

Adoption centres

Our adoption centres are mostly run by paid staff members who look after the cats on site. Cats Protection adoption centres may consist of indoor or outdoor pens and cabins where the public can come and see the cats in our care.

National Cat Centre

The National Cat Centre (NCC) combines cat adoption, education, veterinary care and administration all on one site. As Cats Protection's administrative centre, the NCC supports our branches and adoption centres.

Trustees

Cats Protection is governed by a Board of Trustees who are legally responsible for all of the charity’s activities. The Trustees are advised by a Council of elected representatives of Cats Protection’s membership.
