Peterborough & Fens campaign

Ginger looking at the cameraCats Protection is working to help cat owners improve the lives of their pets.

Throughout 2011 and 2012, owners living in the area PE1-19 and PE26-29 will be able to have their cat neutered free of charge. Please note that this will no longer include micrichipping, as our scheme partner, Wood Green Animal Shelters, has withdrawn from the scheme from May 2012.

To qualify, owners will need to be on a low income or state benefit and be able to provide proof of this, as well as of their identity, when they attend the vet’s surgery.

The offer is also available for long-term stray cats which you have been feeding and where extensive efforts have been made to find an owner – such as to have placed a temporary collar (paper or thin card) round the cat’s neck for at least two weeks, with a message asking them to contact you, before the cat can be neutered.

The vets listed on the map below have been provided with paperwork to run the scheme and you can access the scheme by approaching the vets directly – there is no need to call us first (you can zoom in and click on the pins to get the vets’ details). However, if you experience any problems viewing the map please call us on hotline 03000 12 12 12 if you need help to find your participating vet.
