We are a very busy branch covering a large area of the North East across Newcastle City Council and the Gateshead area.

The Gateshead & Newcastle Branch was established in December 2001 and is completely run by volunteers. As our branch does not have a shelter, all of our cats are looked after by fosterers in their own homes.

We are always on the look out for more volunteers so please get in touch if you would like to help. We have volunteers who are involved in fostering, fundraising, rehoming, administration and publicity, so there are lots of opportunities to find the right role for you.

One of the best ways you can help us is to Adopt a Cat from us. Every cat we home leaves a space for another needy cat or kitten to come into our care. Please take a look at our Adopt a Cat pages and get in touch.

You can also help by making a donation to help our work - all funds we raise go directly towards helping the cats an kittens in our care. Please go to our Donate button if you would like to help.

We work in partnership with the new Cats Protection Charity Shop on Clayton Street in Newcastle. Opened in summer 2018, the funds raised by the shop are invaluable in helping support the branch's work.

The shop is always grateful for donations of stock and for volunteers who are able to cover various shifts. The charity shop's full address is as follows:
