Whether it be a one-off donation or signing up to regular giving, your donations allow us to carry out our work and are crucial to the branch.

Free Donations with Easyfundraising and Gift Aid
Did you know you can rasie money for our branch without donating a single penny yourself? Simply sign up to Easyfundraising (it's free!) and shop online using their web page. They will donate a percentage of your shopping sales to us at no additional cost to yourself!

Gift Aid is another way to give for free to our Branch. When you make a donation, you may be asked if you would like to include Gift Aid. By including Gift Aid, you are allowing the charity to claim back tax on your donation, adding a whopping 25p for every £1 donated without costing you any extra!
You must be a UK Tax payer to agree to Gift Aid, it only takes a few details and allows us to take your kind donation even further!
Become a Cats Protection Member
You can become a member of Cats Protection for £5 a month. You will receive a welcome pack, annual subscription to The Cat magazine, and access to Vetfone where you are able to chat to a vet nurse by phone or live chat 24 hours and 7 days a week if you are worried about your cat's health, plus other benefits. All membership fees will come to our branch to help cats in our area. Just click here for more information

Take part in one of our Challenge Events

Join the cat lottery and support our branch
It only costs £1 a week to play. Every penny will help our branch to look after the cats and kittens in our care. Players have a chance of winning one of 100 prizes, including a weekly jackpot of £1,000 and Super Draws up to a £10,000 jackpot.
This is a fun way of helping to raise funds for cats and kittens. When signing up please remember to select 'I would like my payments to go towards the cats and kittens at a branch or adoption centre of my choice' and choose to support 'Atherton & Wigan Branch' as this will ensure 100% of your lottery fee will go directly to support our branch.
If you have signed up the the lottery previously and did not specify you wanted the payments to come to our branch, you can make sure that they do come to us in future if you ring 01628 825928.
Amazon Wish List We have set up an Amazon Wish List for anyone who would like to support us by buying a gift for the cats and kittens in our care. Items include: cat food, litter and toys. You can purchase gifts by clicking here:

Become a cat sponsor
So many cats arrive at our branch hungry, homeless and alone. Sponsoring a cat pen is one of the best ways you can help, providing them with shelter, food, warmth, medical care and the love they need.
It's easy to become a cat pen sponsor, right now, for as little as 19p a day. Sponsorship also makes a lovely gift for a fellow cat lover in your life.

Free Will Writing Service Food Donation
We have food donation bins in these stores: Sainsbury's Leigh and Marus Bridge, Morrisons Leigh, Tesco Hindley, Asda Golborne, Pets at Home Walkden, My Pets Vets, and Surestore Bolton. When you are out shopping it would be greatly appreciated if you could add an item or two to help the cats and kittens in our care. If you want to donate food but are unable to drop off in a bin please email

Knitting Wool
If you have any spare knitting wool, we would be glad to have it! We have some keen knitters raising money for us by selling knitted and crocheted items on our behalf, and they are always needing supplies. Please drop off at one of our food donation bins or email

We welcome unused stamps to help keep down our postage costs.
Pets at home VIP CardIf you shop at Pets at Home, you can join their VIP club. This will entitle you to lots of benefits, and you also have the option to nominate us as your chosen charity, so that we will receive donations from them from your purchases, whether instore on online.
Simon's Cat Badges
We have some very cute Cats Protection Simon's Cat badges for sale at £1 each, plus 66p postage or collect from Lowton. Payment by bank transfer if posted. Please email for more details
enquiries@atherton.cats.org.uk Catnip MiceWe have some lovely knitted catnip mice for sale. Our cats really love the catnip in them. If you would like to buy any, the cost is £2. each. You can pick up from Lowton otherwise postage is 66p per mouse or 96p for two or more.
