Give the purr-fect gift this Christmas
09 November 2019
Cats Protection’s Belfast Adoption Centre is appealing for people to open their hearts to help the ever increasing number of cats in need this Christmas with their Christmas Shoe Box Appeal.
This comes at a time when more pets than ever are being given up, which has put a massive strain on the Belfast Adoption Centre.
“In these difficult times, we are encouraging people to support our Christmas Shoe Box Appeal, by donating a gift wrapped shoe box full of Christmas presents to the cats in the form of food, treats, toys or blankets,” said Belfast Adoption Centre Manager Bel Livingstone.
“It really doesn’t have to be much, we would be grateful for even the smallest gifts. We want people to remember that the cat care here doesn’t stop at Christmas; in fact it’s at this time of year that we are most desperate for help. We are asking people to spare a thought for the cats in our care that don’t have loving homes this holiday season.”
Here are some other ideas of ways you can provide vital support to cats in need:
- Donate cash - for example, just £14 could enable us to care for one extra cat for a week – providing them with food, veterinary care and a warm place to sleep
- Sponsor a cat – for as little as £6 a month you can sponsor a cat at the Belfast Adoption Centre to help provide food, shelter and essential veterinary care whilst they are in care. In turn, you’ll receive regular updates from your sponsor cat.
- Donate your time - Volunteering for Cats Protection is a fun and rewarding experience, particularly if you have a skill that would benefit the charity or would like to develop new skills by taking on a fresh challenge. Our volunteers gain a great deal of satisfaction helping cats get a second chance in life
Christmas Shoe Box Appeal donations can be dropped into the Belfast Adoption Centre reception between 11am – 3.30pm each day.
