Hannah completes Miles for Moggies challenge
One of our amazing volunteers, Hannah Fallows, took on the Miles for Moggies challenge last month to raise funds for the Birmingham Adoption Centre.
We caught up with her to find out more about the challenge:
Hi Hannah, tell us more about the challenge and how you tackled it:
The task was to run 26 miles (a marathon) throughout the month of April. I chose to do this solely at the gym as I go there often and enjoy running. I ran on the treadmill to cover the distance and recorded my running by taking a range of pictures (for example, before and after selfies, the distance covered, my logging of the distance and progression covered).
It sounds like quite the challenge; how did you find it?
Although at times it was tough - such as going for a run after a long day at work! I continued on and had lots of support and motivation from friends and family.
What kept you going?
Something that kept me going was thinking about the faces of the lovely cats I work with on a weekly basis when I volunteer. When such a strong bond is created, you feel compelled to continue and not let the cats down.
Would you do it again?
I’d 100% do it again. Possibly not right now but I certainly would. It gave me focus, a purpose and it feels fantastic giving back to such wonderful creatures who I’ve spent my whole life growing up with.
Congratulations, Hannah – thank you for your hard work!
Hannah has done a fantastic job and raised more than £500 for our Centre. If you’d like to contribute, check out her Just Giving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/fundraisingHRF
