Our Christmas animation takes inspiration from a real life story

This year’s Christmas animation from Cats Protection is a festive tale with a difference, taking inspiration from a true story. If you haven’t yet seen the tear-jerking animation, it features 16-year-old ginger cat Kozal as he waits in an adoption centre to be rehomed.

Named after a one-eyed warrior from the popular TV series Game of Thrones, Beric was found living in Llandudno Junction. Thought to have been a stray for quite a while, he was gathering a few scars and had suffered a nasty eye injury.

Edmund's story is one that will be so familiar to every branch of Cats Protection. He was found as a stray – not microchipped, not neutered and with horrible wounds from fighting. We weren't surprised when his FIV test came back as positive.

Fresh start for senior Dotty

Sixteen-year-old Dotty came into the care of the branch in November 2016 having lived with one owner since a kitten and kept as an indoor cat. New rules by the landlord meant that Dotty wasn't allowed to stay in her home and she was reluctantly handed over to Cats Protection.
