Cats Protection’s Cat Guardians service finds new homes for cats whose owners have sadly died, no matter how old they are

For the past 10 years, Cats Protection’s National Black Cat Day has been a chance to shine a light on black and black-and-white cats, who have sadly been regularly overlooked for adoption.

Four-year-old Marshall has had a rough few months. Due to having multiple benign tumours in his ears, he needed to have both ear canals removed to prevent the tumours from growing back.

A pair of blind kittens have had vital eye surgery so they are able to experience a better quality of life in the future, thanks to generous donations from the public.

Holby City and Strictly Come Dancing star Chizzy Akudolu recently took time out of her busy schedule to help out at Cats Protection’s Mitcham Homing Centre in South London.

Elsa was four years old when her owner signed up to Cats Protection’s Cat Guardians service in September 2015. The free service promises that in the event of an owner’s death, we will find their cat a loving new home, no matter how long it takes.

In July employees from our partner Petplan and the wider Allianz community kindly spent the day helping prepare our new Mitcham Homing Centre for its grand opening.

On Saturday 25 July our Mitcham Homing Centre opened its doors to the public. London is home to an estimated 1.5 million cats and the Mitcham Homing Centre is our first step in targeting urban areas identified as being of high need.

As you’re reading this, hundreds of cat fosterers around the country have a little furry lodger enjoying the care and comfort of their home. Without these volunteers, Cats Protection just wouldn’t be able to help the number of cats and kittens that they currently do.
