Cats Protection is renewing its call for the government to license air guns, with longer days following the clock change feared to lead to an increase in cats being victims of shootings

Cats Protection’s Southampton Branch is appealing for help after taking in a cat who was viciously shot three times with an air gun while heavily pregnant.

During the 1920s cats were not seen as the companion animals they are today. Rather than pets most were thought of as nothing more than pests.

Cats Protection is one step closer to changing the law on air gun ownership in England and Wales, in the hope that we can prevent future cruel attacks on cats like Stephanie.

The UK Government is currently holding a public consultation into air weapon regulations and Cats Protection wants you to make your voice heard – we want to ensure that cats in England and Wales are fully protected.
