Neutering

Cats Protection champions neutering as the only effective way to reduce the number of unwanted cats in the UK and we neuter around 150,000 each year.  We believe that getting your cat neutered before they can breed is an essential part of responsible cat ownership which is why we recommend that kittens are neutered at four months old.  We are campaigning to limit other breeding such as the irresponsible back street breeders and to ensure there are better safeguards for the commercial sale of all types of cats.

We seek to dispel myths, spread the neutering message and make it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered.  In some cases, especially where owners are in financial hardship, some of our centres and branches may be able to help with neutering costs.

UPDATE:  Please bear in mind that we operate a lead time of two weeks to issue and deliver neutering vouchers. Please allow this time before making an appointment for neutering at the vet. Your vet will not be able to proceed with neutering at a subsidised cost without the voucher being at the surgery.
