Did you know that our branch has its very own story like Casper's?
26 November 2020
Have you watched Casper’s magical tale?
Because he’d been microchipped, when Casper was handed into Cats Protection we were able to get in touch with his owners. Mum, Anna told us how he’d gone missing three years earlier, and that her son Daniel still missed him desperately.
But did you know that our branch has its very own story like Casper's?
Here’s the story of Monty… on 10th July 2019, Lost and Found Volunteers Anne Young and Phil Metcalfe went to Farley Hill to scan a cat that had been reported as being around for 2 weeks. A quick scan of the cat revealed that he was microchipped, and when Anne spoke to the owner, Lydia Butler, she was overjoyed, as Monty had been missing for 22 months!
Lydia said “We had only just moved to our new home, and despite keeping him indoors, Monty had snuck out of a small gap and must have become disorientated.
We were so devastated and searched the streets, putting up posters and delivering flyers, but there was no sign of Monty at all. Our son Aaron took it particularly badly, as they were very close. All the time he was gone, Aaron never stopped talking about Monty.
We were absolutely over the moon when Bracknell and Wokingham Cats Protection called to say he’d been found. We brought him home and he recognized Aaron straight away - they’ve been pretty inseparable ever since.” Monty and Aaron, reunited are pictured below.
