Walking the Cotswold Way in memory of Mary Wood
27 May 2019
In memory of Mary Wood
On Saturday, 29th June 2019, Steve Kellaway is walking the 100k Cotswold Way Challenge for Cats Protection because the charity meant so much to Mary.
Mary, who was the welfare officer and previously the co-ordinator for the branch passed away on Wednesday 17th October after an 18 month battle with secondary liver cancer.
In Steve Kellaway's words:
Last year we lost our wonderful friend and neighbour Mary to cancer. Mary loved cats, and did so much work for Cats Protection over many years. Mary was one of a kind. She would look after our cats while we were on holiday, and would get quite cross if we gave her a thank you gift for it. And she knew a scary amount about 70’s disco music.
The 100k non stop walk from Bath to Cheltenham on 29th June will be a time for me to remember Mary, her love of cats, and her courage while facing up to cancer right until the end, never giving up on her work or her cats. I will need some of her courage to get to the end, but I will.
I am self funding the event, so none of the donations will be taken to pay for entry to the event.
