For The Love Of Cats - A True Success

Our local branch of Cats Protection has been very busy recently, holding a brand new style of event, based on the historic “Homing Shows,” but with less emphasis on rehoming cats, and more on cats in general. We used the fantastic excuse of Valentine’s weekend, which helped us with ideas for advertising, posters and decorations!

A small team of keen volunteers held various meetings, fueled by tea, biscuits and an assortment of pets, and put their heads together to get ideas rolling for the new style of homing show. After duties were delegated, the team set out to put together the event.

A new venue was booked at Wakehams Drive in Pound Hill, and the team quickly set up for the public, despite the horrific weather of Storm Ciara! We held stalls selling goods such as useful items for cat owners, our usual selection of diaries, pens, badges, a chocolate Tombola and even a Teddy Tombola! There was a lottery stand, where members could find out more about the Cats Protection Lottery syndicate, and boards full of useful leaflets on our charity. We also had the biggest selection of cakes and pastries I think we’ve ever had!!

We had a really successful day and saw lots of new faces, as well as the familiar ones. We raised a fantastic £320 and generated loads of interest in the charity, as well as rehoming all the cats the attended, and adding lots of people to our waiting list for incoming cats. Thankyou to all our volunteers for putting in so much of your free time, and efforts, and also to each member of the public who came along and helped raise money for cats in the area!
