Adopt a cat
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING A CAT PLEASE E-MAIL US ON derby@cats.org.uk AND WE WILL SEND YOU A HOMEFINDER QUESTIONNAIRE. We will ask you to fill this out first then we can either match you with a suitable cat or arrange an appointment for you to visit.
The Adoption Centre is open by appointment to meet the cat or kitten you have been matched with every day between 11am and 3pm
All of our cats have been treated to our minimum veterinary standards. This means:
- They have been examined by our veterinary surgeon
- Vaccinated against flu, enteritis and FeLV
- Microchipped
- Treated against fleas, roundworm and tapeworm
- Neutered or spayed
To help cover these costs there is an adoption fee of £75 per cat or £95 per kitten under six months.
It does not cover the cost of all of their treatment but it does help towards the cost while they are in our care.
A cat’s behaviour in their pen is not always a true representation of their
real character. They are in an unfamiliar environment and may be taking time to get to know their new surroundings. For this reason some cats can appear apprehensive about saying hello but don’t let this put you off.
Remember their whole world has changed. They may not understand that you could be the one to change it back again for the better. Be patient, it pays dividends. When you meet for the first time please take things quietly and slowly, allowing the cat to come to you.
