Bob Mortimer helps unwanted cats find their purr-fect match

Bob Mortimer helps unwanted cats find their purr-fect match Cat-loving comic Bob Mortimer paid a visit to Cats Protection’s National Adoption Centre on Friday to meet unwanted cats looking for their perfect homes in time for Valentine’s Day.

Bob, who found fame as one half of comic legendary duo Vic and Bob, is a big cat fan and even has two moggies of his own. Last year, he began making up funny cat names and jokingly ‘selling’ them on Twitter. The names were then made into striking feline-themed artwork, created by online gift company Wordynumnum.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Bob kindly allowed Cats Protection to use his latest name creations for some of the cats currently in care. Among the creatively-named cats looking for homes are DJ Loveham, Fond Margaret and Lacey Bedspread. The names are featured on the latest piece of artwork, entitled ‘Tender Gary.’

After his visit, Bob explained: “I’ve loved seeing all the cats at the centre. It’s a bit sad, but they’re well cared for and it’s nice to think they’ll all be going to lovely homes.”

Manager of Cats Protection’s National Adoption Centre, Danielle Draper, said the charity was grateful to Bob, not only for supporting the charity but for also helping to inspire some new names for cats in its care. She said: “Sadly, with hundreds coming through our centre each year it can be quite hard to think up original names for them all.”
