What we do

Like every branch of Cats Protection, our volunteers work tirelessly to improve the wellbeing of cats and kittens.  Here are some of the ways we do this:

We rescue and rehome cats:  to find forever homes for stray and unwanted cats and kittens, in 2020 we found homes for 53 cats and kittens.  All of these were flea treated, wormed and neutered if required.  All domestic cats rehomed were also microchipped and vaccinated.

We neuter cats to prevent so many unwanted kittens:  to encourage neutering of all cats and kittens from 4 months old and champion neutering as the best way to ensure there will be fewer unwanted felines in the future.  In 2020 we neutered a total of 588 cats.  Since starting in 1997 we have neutered 8,119 cats!

Neutering Vouchers ~ If you are on a low income you may be eligible for a neutering voucher to help to pay the cost of neutering your cat.  If you live in our area please contact Anne on 01228 791 364 for details.

We look after cats waiting for their forever homes:  we have anything from 15 to 30 cats in our care at any time.

We help sick cats: in 2020 we paid for 58 cats to be treated by our vets.

We TNR:  We facilitate the trapping and neutering of feral cats with our Trap-Neuter-Return programme.  In 2020 we trapped, neutered and returned 211 cats and kittens.

We Educate: to improve people's understanding of cats and their care.  We offer an extensive range of leaflets on all aspects of cat care, they cover everything from basic cat care, to parasites, cats and babies through to cats and the law and they are available to download from our national website.   We will also give talks about the CPL to schools, WRI , local youth groups etc.
