In the last 20 years we have helped thousands of cats and kittens to have a second chance. Each year we re-home around 100 cats and kittens and aim to neuter in the region of 400.

We usually have a selection of cats and kittens in our care looking for new homes, because of the recent pandemic, we have fewer cats, as we have only recently been given the go ahead to take unwanted cats in.
Before leaving our care, all cats over six months old are flea and worm treated, blood tested for FIV and FeLV, fully vaccinated and are neutered and microchipped. Cats under six months are too young for blood tests, but as with all our cats, have up to date vaccinations, are wormed, flea treated and vet checked, so you know they have a clean bill of health, with no hidden surprises!

Adopting a cat or kitten involves long-term commitment, as most cats will live for at least 15 years. Although we take every care to ensure that cats re-homed by us are in A1 condition the ageing process and regular check-ups will entail veterinary bills at some time. Therefore we would ask you to think carefully before adopting a cat or kitten.

As our cats have already had a bad start in life we like to do a prospective home check before we place each cat, this at the moment will be a virtual meeting, to make sure we get the right cat in the right home. We do reserve the right to make any decision based on the cats needs.

As you will understand there is a great deal of expense involved in keeping up the work that we do with needy cats and we are totally dependent on our own fundraising (again undertaken by volunteers) and donations made by you, the public. Therefore Cats' Protection asks adopters for a fee of £75 when rehoming a cat, and £150 for a pedigree. If you feel able to make a donation on top of the fee that would, of course, be gratefully received.

Our hands free rehoming scheme is in place and you can read up on our criteria here and when we have cats looking for their new home they will be advertised on this page

If you are considering giving up your cat or kitten for adoption, please consider Cats Protection and give us a call, we carry out checks and can find the best home for your cat or kitten

If you think you could offer a loving and caring home to one of our cats then please telephone and ask for our Rehoming Team Leader on 0345 260 1253
