What we do

We're using a hands free homing approach during these difficult times. We have in place procedures to enable carefully controlled re homing without putting people at undue risk of infection and without a negative effect on cat welfare. We can't guarantee that you'll be able to adopt a cat at this time but we'll be ensuring that all our cats are matched with potential owners who can provide the environment and lifestyle required by each individual cat. You'll find descriptions, photos and video clips of the cats in their profiles to help you decide which one might be for you.

If you like the look of one of our cats, send us an enquiry via the contact form on the cat's profile page or give us a call on 0345 260 1253. If we think you're a match we'll give you a call to take a few more details and discuss the cat. At this stage we'll ask for proof of your address and (if applicable) landlord permission for a cat, this needs to be in the form of an email or letter to us, we do not accept text messages.  Once these have been received we'll arrange a WhatsApp call to carry out a 'virtual' home visit, where we'll go through important information about settling a cat in and cat care, and you'll be able to show us around your home and garden. If all is well we'll reserve the cat for you and proceed to the adoption. Please note, any paperwork we need you to complete must be done electronically at the moment, we cannot accept this any other way at this time.

Once your cat has been reserved we'll send the adoption paperwork via email for you to review and sign. We'll be able to finalise the adoption once this paperwork has been returned to us electronically and when the adoption fee of £75 (per cat) £150 for a pedigree, has been paid. The paperwork consists of an adoption form and PetPlan Terms for your cat's free one-month insurance cover. We will supply a good quality cat carrier to transport your cat. It's an essential part of the hands-free homing approach to minimise infection risk, and complies with our hands free guidelines Arrangements will be made for you to pay the adoption fee online. Once this has been done one of our drivers will bring your new cat to your home, following the hands-free procedure. The driver will explain how it works when they call to arrange a time for delivering your cat.

After the adoption we'll follow up with you to see how your cat is settling in. We'll check in with you at 3, and 7 days from arrival. However, we're only a phone call or email away, so please don't hesitate to get in touch for any advice or help you might need.

We may have more cats behind the scenes who haven't made it to the website yet. If you don't see the cat for you, do ask as we may have a new arrival who fits the bill perfectly! If you spot a cat you're interested in please mention their name when giving us a call on 0345 260 1253 or by emailing us at rehoming@folkestone.cats.org.uk
