Fram & Sax News August 2020
01 August 2020
At last, after many months Fram and Sax CP is back to some sort of normality. The branch was given permission to begin homing cats again in mid-June. This was a huge relief as we had many cats in care who had been with us since before lockdown. In fact, many of them had been with their fosterers since before Christmas and in normal circumstances would have been ready to go to new homes just before lockdown was enforced. Of course, our foster volunteers continued to care for all their residents, ensuring they were kept comfortable and safe; taking extra time to interact with them to keep them stimulated. In the first weeks after some of the restrictions were lifted we homed sixteen cats!
Of course, as with all other charities, we have suffered a loss of income as we have been unable to get out and about to attend our usual fundraising events. Naturally, our overheads have not diminished. We appreciate that many people have suffered during this time, but if you are able to help us with a donation, we have a dedicated Fram and Sax JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Fram-and-Sax or donations can be made direct to the branch electronically or by cheque. Full details can be found here. We are always grateful for any donation, large or small.
Cat care: It is not just humans who may be out and about a little more now. Your cat will be spending much more time outdoors enjoying the summer sunshine. So, here are a few tips to ensure they stay fit and healthy; speak to your vet who will give you the best advice about the following:
1. Neutering both male and female cats is vital to prevent unwanted kittens being born.
2. Ensure your cat is fully vaccinated to protect against diseases and parasites.
3. Protect your cat with appropriate flea, worm and tick treatment.
4. Cats with white fur, including those with white ears or noses, can be susceptible to sunburn and sun exposure can trigger a type of cancer. Try keeping the cat indoors during the hottest part of the day; provide shade in gardens and apply sunscreen where possible.
Looking for a home: This delightful pair of young lads are Jonty and Paris. They are very sweet, affectionate chaps who enjoy cuddles and play. They would love a home together as they are great friends. See them here or call to find out more.
