Welcome to Cats Protection Framlingham & Saxmundham Branch

We’re here to support cats and kittens in and around the Framlingham & Saxmundham areas, covering postcodes: IP12, IP13, IP15, IP16, IP17, IP18, IP19, IP20, IP21, IP22, IP23

Run by a small team of dedicated, cat-loving volunteers, we are dedicated to improving the lives of cats and kittens in the areas in and around Framlingham & Saxmundham, to find loving new homes for local cats in our care, offering support with neutering, and lost and found cats, as well as general education and awareness within the Framlingham & Saxmundham area.

Our Story:  Our branch of Cats Protection was formed in 1989 by a group of concerned people who were alarmed by the increasing number of abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens in the area. Approval from Cats Protection to form a local branch was received in April 1990.

Since our formation, we have gone from strength to strength and on average now home up to 120 cats and kittens each year and help many more with medical care and neutering programmes. Moving home, relationship break-ups, illness, and bereavements in the family - these are just some of the many reasons owners have to make the heartbreaking decision to separate from their cats. There are also many strays and feral kittens we take in each year and older feral cats we help to trap, neuter and return (TNR) to managed colonies. Sadly, the problem of unwanted cats and kittens has not decreased despite neutering campaigns.

All our work is voluntary and has to be fitted in with business and private lives. It is sometimes extremely difficult to get this fact over to the general public. We have a dedicated team of volunteers without whom we could not carry out the vital work we do to help the cats and kittens in our area.

The branch does not have a purpose-built adoption centre, so all felines in our care are placed in either cat cabins in fosterers' gardens or in spare rooms in their homes.

Cat adoption in Framlingham & Saxmundham

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in or around the Framlingham & Saxmundham areas? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship. See all our cats currently available for homing by clicking the link below.

Adoption fee: The Branch Adoption fee is £75 for an adult cat and £95 for a kitten under six months old*. If a kitten has not been neutered prior to adoption a free neutering voucher will be given (to be used at one of our designated vets). *Before re-homing all our cats and kittens are seen by a vet, given flea and worm treatment, are micro-chipped, fully vaccinated, and if old enough will be neutered. Adoptions include four weeks free PetPlan insurance.  As you will appreciate this adoption fee does not cover all these costs.  When an adult cat leaves Cats Protection the costs will be approximately £200.  A kitten will cost almost the same and sometimes more! We do ask that if you feel able to make a donation on top of the fee that would, of course, be gratefully received.  We are able to claim Gift Aid on additional donations if you pay tax.

Home Visits: Our branch carries out home visits prior to homing.  This is an opportunity for any questions or problems to be discussed. Many of the cats and kittens in the care of our branch come from very rural areas which means they may not be suitable for homes in towns or close to busy roads. Important: If you live in rented accommodation you must have written permission from your landlord to state that you are allowed to have cats in the property. We are unable to home without seeing this permission.

How To Express Your Interest: If you are interested in any of our cats, please use the Enquiry button on the cat's profile. You can also email: enquiries@framandsax.cats.org.uk. General enquiries can be made by telephone on 01728 723499. If we are unable to answer immediately please leave a message with your name, address and brief details of your enquiry and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
