We understand the commitment, courage and thought that goes into participating in a challenge event on behalf of Cats Protection and promise we will do our very best to give you all the help and support you need to have a successful challenge and raise much-needed funds to help us care for cats and kittens. You are able to nominate to support a local branch or centre with your fundraising.
We will also provide you with a dedicated Facebook group to network with fellow cat-loving event participants and a branded yellow Cats Protection head buff, plus ideas, resources and support to help you fundraise.
On the day of your wing walking experience, friends and family are welcome and all airfields have a viewing area and a cafeteria serving food and drink until late afternoon. You will be with the team for a maximum of 90 minutes, but you are welcome to stay at the airfield and enjoy the atmosphere for the day.
Before your flight you will be provided with a comprehensive ground and safety briefing when you will need to sign a fitness/waiver declaration. Once strapped into the five-point harness you will take off for a 10-minute ultimate experience that will include zooms and climbs at speeds up to 130mph and passes near to friends and family.
For an optional extra cost of £50 you can have a recording as a lasting reminder of your flight. Taken from two high resolution cameras fitted to the aircraft, the two picture split screen recording includes pilot commentary, airspeed and altitude. This is supplied on a USB memory stick and is available for you to take away. This can be paid for in advance or on the day if you wish. You will also receive a certificate confirming you have participated in a wing walk.
Please note wing walkers must be aged between 18 and 75 years old. If you are between 65 and 75 years old you must supply a doctor’s note on the day. You must weigh less than 12 stone (77kg) and be between 5 and 6ft tall. You must be able to climb up the aircraft and through the struts to a height of 10ft.
On the day dependent on the temperature we recommend that you wear T-shirt/fleece/wind jacket; light trousers, jeans or leggings; flat trainers or lightweight shoes – no hoodies, boots or heels. More comprehensive information will be supplied when you receive the airfield arrival details nearer the time of your flight.
Aerobatic Tactics adheres to strict regulations introduced by the Civil Aviation Authority in October 2013 to provide wing walking experiences to the general public including fundraising activities. Their professional team of pilots and ground crew undergo regular training and meet stringent operational requirements to ensure that your experience is safe, legal and enjoyable to allow you to complete your wing walk for charity with ultimate peace of mind.
