Lionel (Bishopbriggs, Glasgow)

Good News – After nearly 3 & ½ years – Lionel is reunited back with his family

This “good news” story will give hope to everyone who has a missing cat:

A few of you may remember Lionel went missing from his home in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow on Tuesday 23 October 2012 when he was just a youngster. An extensive search of the area surrounding his home & a wide campaign publicising his disappearance at the time was unsuccessful at finding him but his family never stopped looking out for him.

On 5 February 2016 – out of the blue – they received a phone call from a local vet to say that they had Lionel – and he was well, healthy & waiting patiently to go home.

His family were stunned but absolutely delighted & when they went collect him they discovered that he had been found half a mile away from his home.

He had recently started to visit a family who knew he wasn’t a resident cat from their area so they took him to vet to be scanned and thanks to their vigilance Lionel was reunited back home nearly 3 & ½ years after going missing.

A wee reminder to everyone about the importance of microchipping -  microchipping is a safe and permanent means of identification which increases the chances of a missing cat being reunited with back with its family.

Welcome home Lionel x
