Adopt a Cat 2020

SUCCESS STORY: Holly & Ivy (adopted 16 Dec 2019 – update 21 Dec 2020)

Beautiful Holly & Ivy (previously Petra and Ingrid) were adopted on 16th December 2019 by Shleena and family and have been with their forever family just over a year. A wee update has been received as follows which we would love to share with you:

It's already been a year since I adopted Holly & Ivy, and the two ladies have settled in so well !!

Holly's favourite pastime is pattering around the house (or as we call it, doot-dooting around!). Ivy loves sleeping, then yelling for some pats when she wakes up. Both cats are very vocal, but Ivy especially seems to love chattering away!

Holly loves to play with her many toys, but it seems she prefers dangly rod toys without a toy attached! Ivy will chase anything, but she seems to especially like a wee ball she can chase then bunny kick!

Both of them have recently started to lie on top of each other on top of me! It's saved me so much on my heating bill this winter, so it's both wholesome and cost-effective lol.

As I type this out, they're both sprawled across my lap, snoozing away!

They're such great company, and I'm forever grateful to Cat's Protection for allowing me to adopt them last year.

Love and best wishes

Shleena x

SUCCESS STORY: Jasmine & Oscar (adopted 20 October 2020 -update 27 November 2020)

Beautiful tabby cat Jasmine & her brother Oscar (previously Dobby) were adopted by Christine & family on 20 October 2020 and have now been in their forever home for nearly 6 weeks.

Christine has sent a wee update as follows:
Hello! We adopted Jasmine & her brother Oscar in October and just wanted to let you know that hey are settling in well.
We renamed Dobby because he has a thing for crinkly plastic and other random bits of rubbish just like Oscar the grouch. We’re having to be extra careful and bought him crinkly toys!

Jasmine loves her radiator bed, cuddles on your shoulder and climbs under the covers for cuddles in the morning time.

They both love bouncing around in the home in the morning and evening to play with each other. It’s adorable watching them trampoline off the drawers onto the bed and then take off playing tag and chasing each other.

We love them both so much and are delighted they are part of family.

Best wishes

Christine x

SUCCESS STORY: Cleo (adopted 19 september 2020 -update 8 November 2020)

Beautiful 16 year old Cleo was adopted on 19 September 2020 by Hannah & family and has now been in her furever home for just over 7 weeks.

A wee update has been received as follows:

Hi Cat's Protection

I just wanted to say hello and give you a wee update on Cleo.

She's settled into our home so well! Right from the get go she was really happy and affectionate, she loves nothing more than snoozing on a lap and being in the same room as us.

We're also really pleased as we've managed to get her eating half and half of her renal food and normal food (and are hoping to slowly get her onto full renal over time!).

She definitely knows she's the top cat in our house and we love her to bits.

Hope you are all well

Best wishes

Hannah x

Handsome brothers Hobbs & Binx were adopted by Eilidh & family on 24 September 2020 and have now been in their forever home for 6 weeks.

Eilidh has sent a wee update as follows:

Hello! We adopted Hobb and Binx over a month ago and we can’t imagine our home without them now 😊 they have settled in really well and are always up to mischief, stealing hair bobble and socks and ignoring their own toys!

Best wishes Eilidh x

SUCCESS STORY: Hiro (adopted 26 September 2020 - update 5 October 2020)

6-year-old Hiro (aka Lucky) was adopted on 26 September 2020 by Jennifer and has been in his forever home just over a week. Wee update received as follows:

Hi, I just wanted to send you a wee update on our first week together. Lucky is now called Hiro, and he seems fine with the change.

After a shy couple of days he has gotten more and more confident in his new surroundings and spends every night sleeping with me and every day we spend lots of time playing and snuggling together on the sofa.

He has revealed a boisterous nature and gets very excited chasing his toys around the flat and especially through his tunnel, or from inside one of his boxes.

There is a cosy blanket that he loves to knead when on the bed or the couch before settling down for snoozes.

Hiro also enjoys the window sills for checking out passing people and the cheeky magpies outside.

Despite starting out as a totally silent wee fella, Hiro has started to find his voice! He has definitely tried to talk a few times, and hopefully he will continue to get even more chatty.

Altogether we are having a lovely time together and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much for bringing us together!!

SUCCESS STORY: Wellington (adopted 10 September 2020 - update 23 September 2020)

Handsome, 12-year-old Wellington (previously Cheeky) was adopted on 10 September 2020 by Joanna & family and has now been in his forever home for nearly 3 weeks.

Joanne has sent a wee update letting us know that Wellington was a little shy when he first arrived but it didn’t take him long to get used to his family and he is now settling in well and enjoying his tummy rubs and he is one very happy, content cat x

SUCCESS STORY: Logan & Leah (adopted 3 November 2017 -update 20 September 2020)

Brother & sister Logan & Leah were adopted by Janice & family on 3 November 2017 when they were 9 weeks old and they have just celebrated their 3 birthday.

Janice has sent a wee update as follows:

Here’s Leah and Logan - now 3 year olds and getting up to mischief every day. Logan constantly brings in items from outside like elastic bands, feathers and underwear from the neighbours washing line!

Leah has no fear and her favourite pastime is to investigate the loft whenever she gets the chance.

Both are so affectionate and delight even the neighbours who dislike cats!!

SUCCESS STORY: Murphy (adopted 25 July 2020 - update 9 August 2020)

Handsome 11-year-old Murphy was adopted in July 2020 by Lizzi & family and has now been in his forever home for just over 2 weeks. Lizzi has very kindly sent us a few photos of Murphy and an update as follows:

Hi, we adopted Murphy on 23 July 2020 and he’s settled in so well! We can’t imagine not having him now. He’s really affectionate and vocal but also likes to do his own thing some of the time. He loves to play, especially with his feather toy, which is good as he’s a bit chunky and needs to lose some of his bulk! He’s not so happy about his portion control but is getting used to being fed in smaller amounts.

Murphy doesn’t seem to have a favourite place to sleep and will crash out anywhere (though often it’s in the hall where he can still keep an eye on whether anyone is heading to the kitchen!)

We’re delighted to have him and hope he’ll be happy here for many years to come.

Lizzi x

Beautiful Myla was adopted on 29 July 2020 by Hannah & Connah and has been with her furever family over a year.

An update has been received as follows:

Hi guys!

We adopted Myla in July 2019 and now that it’s been a full year thought we’d give you a wee update.

Myla’s completely settled in her new home, is now up to a healthy weight and has stopped trying to steal all the sandwiches and ginger snaps in the house!

She’s also begun bonding with her new sister Squash the hedgehog.

Unfortunately,  a few months ago Myla was diagnosed with feline asthma but she has been doing really well on her new inhalers!

Love

Hannah, Connah, Squash and Myla x

SUCCESS STORY: Panda & Luna (adopted 12 July 2020 - update 19 July 2020)

Beautiful 3-year-old, sisters Panda & Luna were adopted on 12 July 2020 by Conor & Morgan and have now been in their forever home for a week.

The wee ones were very shy, timid cats with Panda being the more outgoing and Luna preferring to hide away and watch what was going on at a safe distance. However, since being adopted it’s as if they know they have found their forever family and Conor has forwarded the following update:

Hi, Panda and Luna are settling in fine, both playing quite happily and v hungry young ladies. Eating lots and very curious.

They love the tops of the kitchen cabinets but both of them enjoy playing with the laser pointer and Luna is an absolute treat hound.  Whenever she hears the packet rustle she comes out (tactical way to find her!)

Panda put her paw on Morgan’s knee today so starting to get to the stroke stage.

Very happy that they’re feeling confident though!

SUCCESS STORY: Bilbo (formerly Angel) adopted 16 February 2020 - update 3 July 2020

Handsome, 8-year-old Bilbo (formerly Angel) was adopted on 16 February 2020 by Samantha & Kenneth and has now been in his forever home for just over 4 months.

A  wee update as follows:

Hi, we adopted Bilbo (formerly known as Angel) in February.

It took him a little while to settle in, he was a bit jumpy in the beginning. Now he is used to our noises and the house and has turned into quite the eccentric cat! He has his own quirky ways, he is not a cuddly cat but still wants backrubs and being brushed.

He can be naughty and he knows it, he will then throw himself on the floor, roll upside down and look at you with those big eyes wanting a rub! How can you resist!

He is still a chubby boy but loves his diet food, only thing is now he needs a plastic surgeon to remove the extra flab from losing weight, ha ha!

We recently bought him a cat tree because he just loved to scratch our carpet and we couldn't get him to use anything else.

He has really taken to it, he loves being the master over his own little Kingdom. He sleeps on all the different levels and now uses it as a scratching pole too, so everyone is happy.

We are very happy with our eccentric boy and he seems very happy too!

Best wishes,

Samantha and Kenneth

SUCCESS STORY – Lucy (adopted 4 June 2020 - update 15 June 2020)

Beautiful 2-year-old Lucy is another wee one who was adopted through our new “Hands fee Homing” adoption process and was adopted on 4 June 2020 by Rebecca & family.

Lucy is a cat that takes time to build her trust and could be aggressive when unsettled or cornered and we knew it would take a special family to adopt Lucy and work with her traits.

Now in her forever home for nearly two weeks, Rebeca has forwarded an update & photos as follows:

Hi guys. Thought I’d send a wee update on Lucy

She’s been with us now for 11 days and is now starting to settle in well. The first few days were tough going, day three being downright scary as she would stand in front of us and hiss, take the odd swipe and watch how we would react.

However, carrying on life as normal, and letting her do whatever she had to do, to work out all the changes that had been going on in her life in such a short space of time seemed to work and  was the turning point, as the following day she was like a totally different cat.

Once Lucy has your trust she’s a cuddle monster, likes her chin tickles and occasional tummy tickle.

We’ve now progressed from sleeping in the other room on the highest point to napping on our reading chair in the living room.

Hearing all kinds of noises from her too including some very cute chirping. She’s totally gorgeous and hoping after a few more days she’ll feel totally at home.

Rebecca x

Lauren has sent a wee update & photos as follows:

Hi, just to let us know that the boys have settled in straight away, no issues at all with eating or toileting. They follow me around and are very affectionate and already 'da bosses'.

Arlo loves to sleep on top of the wardrobe and is very agile while Rigby is super nosey and has claimed the sunny spot at the window.

They are super cute and I feel very lucky. Everyone involved with the homing process has been brilliant. Thank you all so much.

Best wishes

SUCCESS STORY: Crackers (adopted 19 March  2020 - update 30 April 2020)

Handsome, 10-year-old Crackers was adopted on 19 March 2020 by Mia & family and has been in his forever home for 6 weeks. You may remember Crackers had come in with a terrible skin condition which we managed to clear up, however, he had lost alot of fur and was a little slender and needed a special family to spoil him, give him lots of tlc and help him get back to being in full health.

A wee update has been received as follows:

Hi,  hope you're well and safe.

I wanted to send you an update on Crackers and let you know how he is doing.

He has settled so well here over the past few weeks. He was quite timid at first and took his time coming out but now he is definitely a lot more confident. We get lots of cuddles and he likes to chat, especially when I'm on video calls with work - he's tried to get into the video each time!!!! He's playing more and loves to run after his ball.

He seems really happy and continues to surprise us with his little games and chatting away and showing us exactly what he wants and when! Loves to have a good meow when he's not getting enough attention. I think he's happiest when he's snoozing on our laps, or playing with his toys (or tail). His fur is also getting thicker and darker, and he seems bigger too. Just overall seems nice and healthy & happy.

SUCCESS STORY: Teddy ( adopted 29 October 2019 - update 3 April 2020)

Remember little 4 month old Teddy who was adopted in October 2019 by Greg & family? Well look at him now …… he’s now 9 months old and look how grown up he is.

He's been fascinated with the great outdoors for ages so his family decided to fit the cat flap on Sunday - ably assisted by you-know-who - and Teddy got the hang of it really quickly.

He's been sitting out in the garden with the family, amazed at all the new sights, smells and sounds and loving every moment.

SUCCESS STORY: Mika (adopted 29 Feb 2020 – update 28 March 2020)

Remember little Mika, the very, shy, timid cat who did not have much human contact or socialisation and was looking for his furever family at the star to of the year.

Mika was adopted at the end of February 2020 by Anna who has given Mika lots of tlc over the past weeks and the transformation is amazing and an update as follows has been received:

Hi, I adopted Mika from you on the 29th of Feb, and thought I’d give you an update. He’s settled in amazingly, and isn’t the shy boy I brought home. He sleeps at the end of the bed at night, and has loved exploring his new home and playing with his toys. As an A&E nurse he’s brought me so much joy and comfort during this stressful time.

Here’s a few photos of him!

Thanks

Anna x

SUCCESS STORY: Snuggles & Tink (adopted 19 March 2019 - update 22 March 2020)

Brother & Sister Snuggles & Tink were adopted on 19 March 2019 by Stephen & Hannah and have been in their forever home for just over 1 year. A wee update has been received which we would love to share:

Hi there,

Just wanted to give a quick update on Snuggles and Tink.

They've been with us for just over a year now and have settled in very well. They have both really come out of their shells and have the run of the whole house.

Tink is very much in charge. She is very adventurous and likes to climb to the highest point in every room, even if that means climbing a person to do so. When she is not climbing on everything she has become something of a lap cat and will curl up to sleep on our lap when we are on the sofa.

Snuggles is much more easy going, liking nothing more than getting brushed, he'll even pull your hand close to him if you are holding the brush to get you to start brushing. He is very affectionate and lives up to his name.

They are both a welcome presence in our home and we couldn't imagine it without them.

Thanks

Stephen and Hannah

SUCCESS STORY: Crystal & Isla (adopted 19 January 2020 – update 18 February 2020)

Sisters Crystal (shown on the left) & Isla were adopted on 19 January 2020 by Eliza and family and a wee update has been received which we would love to share:

Hi, the girls have settled in pretty quickly overall but Crystal is still a little nervous when we are walking around. She has on a few occasions decided that she wants to sit beside us when she is feeling brave so she comes up for cuddles and is really so sweet.

Isla, as has probably always been the case, loves her food and prances around talking to us when we are getting their food ready for them.  We still have a little bit of work to do to stop her stealing Crystal’s food but we are getting there.

They absolutely love to play and are having a lot of fun with all the catnip toys, shiny fish etc that litter the house. The scratch post is also a favourite perch for Crystal when she is being really playful or a bit sneaky to pounce on Isla.

Best wishes Eliza x

SUCCESS STORY: Baby Blue & Magic (adopted 29 November 2019 – update 21 January 2020)

Brothers Baby Blue & Magic were adopted on 29 November 2019 by Emily & family and a wee update has been received as follows which we would love to share:

Hi, I adopted tiny Baby Blue and Magic almost two months ago (I can’t believe it) and I just wanted to share a few photos to let you know how they’re getting on. Baby Blue is a little camera shy but there’s no stopping Magic who’s into everything. They are the most fabulous, affectionate and funny boys and I couldn’t imagine not having them now. They’re both total characters and very vocal (at 4:30am) and nothing like the timid boys that arrived with me at the end of November!

Many thanks again for helping me to find the furry boys and thank you for all the wonderful work you do at Cat’s Protection!

 Kind regards,

 Emily x
