The Rainbow Bridge (as beautifully encapsulated in a poem of the same name - see below) is a mythological place to which cats (and other pets) go upon their death, eventually to be reunited with their carers. This 'rainbow bridge' webpage is a gallery of remembrance where much loved pets that are sadly no longer with us can be celebrated. We guarantee that we will not delete any entries from this section of the branch website.
The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
In loving memory of Ginger (2002 – April 3 2022)
At the grand age of 15 years young, handsome Ginger was adopted on 26 August 2020 by Charlotte and family and made himself at home straight.
He was loved from the minute he was adopted and enjoyed being the centre of attention, getting cuddles and walks in the garden.
Sadly on Sunday April 3 2022 at the grand age of 16 & 1/2 years Ginger’s family had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go as his health started to deteriorate rapidly.
Charlotte, her family and friends loved Ginger very much and he will be very much missed but never forgotten.
In loving memory of Dushka (1999 – January 2022)
Beautiful, gentle 22 & ½ year-old Dushka came into care of Cats Protection Glasgow Branch in 2020 after her elderly owner could no longer look after her.
She was a special little lady that just took everything in her stride and in April 2021 she was adopted by Diane who fell in love with her and knew that whatever time they had together was precious.
Over the months Dushka was a loving companion and never far from Diane’s side and very content in herself.
Sadly after a deterioration in health Dushka passed peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday 24 January 2022 aged 22 & ½ years-young.
Although only with Diane for a short time, she has lots of happy memories of Dushka who was loved, very much every day.
