The Rainbow Bridge (as beautifully encapsulated in a poem of the same name - see below) is a mythological place to which cats (and other pets) go upon their death, eventually to be reunited with their carers. This 'rainbow bridge' webpage is a gallery of remembrance where much loved pets that are sadly no longer with us can be celebrated. We guarantee that we will not delete any entries from this section of the branch website.
The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
In loving memory of Josy (2003 – September 2021)
Beautiful Josy was 14 years old when adopted in 2017 by Tracey & family. Josy loved attention, affection & company though at times she can be a little bit hissy if things don’t go her way or she didn’t get what she wants.
After a short illness she passed away in September 2021 at the grand age of 18 years old. She had a good few years with her family during which she even moved back home to Belgium with Tracey (and escaped her carrier bag as they were landing).
Tracey, her family and friends loved Josy very much and will be forever in their thoughts.
In loving memory of Ebony (2014 – 29 July 2021)
Beautiful 17-year-old Ebony was adopted along with her 14-year-old brother Simba on 14 April 2021 by Kirsteen after having to come into care of the branch through a change in their previous family’s circumstances.
Ebony was a special wee girl that had a number of underlying health issues and Kirsteen was not deterred by anything. She gave both Ebony & Simba the love, affection and companionship that the wee ones were looking for.
Sadly after a deterioration in health Ebony passed away peacefully on Thursday 29 July 2021.
Although only with Kirsteen for a short time, she has lots of happy memories of Ebony who was loved, very much every day.
In loving memory of Snowy (2012 – February 2021)
Handsome Snowy was 7 years old when adopted by Shona in September 2019 and was a wee cat with character who made himself at home straight away.
Sadly on Saturday 13 February 2021 Shona had to say goodbye to Snowy as he had developed a heart defect that couldn’t be treated.
Although he was only with Shona for a short time, she has lots of happy memories of Snowy and he was loved, very much every day.
