IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CAT OWNERS IN THE SAMSON AND CORNWELL CLOSE AREAS.

09 May 2021
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CAT OWNERS IN THE SAMSON AND CORNWELL CLOSE AREAS. MPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CAT OWNERS IN THE SAMSON AND CORNWELL CLOSE AREAS.

Gosport Cats Protection will be carrying out Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) in the Samson and Cornwell Close areas. This will start on 10th May 2021.

Outdoor living stray cats will be trapped and taken to the vet to be spayed/snipped (neutered so they cannot produce any more kittens) and returned to where they were trapped. This TNR project will be paid for by Cats Protection.

The success of this project depends on you! You can help by:
• Making sure your own pet cats can be recognised by collar and/or microchip
• Temporary paper collars will be put through doors in Samson and Cornwell Close for your use and if you need
more please call 07825 592921

If you would prefer to keep your cat in whilst we are trapping, please contact us on 07825 592921 to find out the dates and times we are trapping.

All cats neutered on this programme will be returned with a few millimetres of their left ear removed (known as “ear-tipping”). This will mean the cat can be recognised from a distance as a neutered cat and will not be trapped again in the future. This is done under anaesthetic and does not cause the cats any undue pain or distress.

We may also be able to help with the cost of getting your pet cat neutered if you are receiving state benefits or on a low income.

Please contact us, if you have not done so already, to report cats that need to be spayed or snipped (neutered) and say that you have seen our TNR website (or social media) post.

Your cooperation will mean that the number of stray cats in your area will not increase as cats neutered as part of this programme will no longer be able to produce kittens.

Thank you for your cooperation.
