Sixties Night Success
25 September 2019
What a blast we all had at Gosport CP's “Sounds of The Sixties” night on Saturday 21/09/19 with covers band On The Rocks.
The RNA club in Gosport was the venue for an evening of music and dancing with vibrant outfits to match, all 60’s style.
Our exciting night of music and fundraising began many months ago when volunteer Rosie suggested that the band she sings with, On The Rocks, could play a gig to benefit Gosport CP. Cue new volunteer Debs Cobbett who did the ground work researching the idea, booked the RNA club and the rest as they say is history!
Volunteer Carole Rudin was a tour de force and alongside singer and CP volunteer Rosie Witcombe, these fabulous ladies went into overdrive and between them sold over a hundred tickets. As well as that Carole approached local businesses for raffle prize donations and what an impressive haul including family tickets to Exbury Gardens, Standsted House and gardens, ever popular prizes of chocolates and also gorgeous flowers from By Arrangement florists. Thank you to all our generous donors.
The night itself was a big hit – it was SOLD OUT - and it was wonderful to see so many people, all cool cats, attending the gig and almost as many dancing the night away. With 100 plus people getting into the groove it was a feast for the eyes with some far out outfits, think psychedelic prints, floating florals, striking shift dresses and white go go boots! These efforts just had to be rewarded and the best two went away with prizes.
It was a gas and the success of this new venture for Gosport CP, truly it was a FUNdraising evening, was an amazing £750 raised to continue all the charities good work to help cats and kittens in the PO12 and PO13 area.
There are so many people to thank and Gosport CP would like to say ‘we couldn’t have done it without you’ to everyone who supported the 60’s evening from those behind the scenes setting up the event, ensuring all went smoothly on the night to all who bought a ticket, raffle ticket, donated a prize and of course the fabulous band ‘On The Rocks’.
Special mention to Carole and Rosie for all their hard work, thanks also go to Kate, Dawn & Paul who helped on the night and to the RNA Club for allowing us to hold the event at their club.
Here’s a list of all who kindly donated raffle prizes which were very much appreciated: Exbury Gardens, Stansted House, Butser Ancient Farm, Beaulieu Motor Museum, By Arrangement florist (Gosport), Tesco (Gosport), Scruples Hair Design (Gosport), Dimon Estate Agents (Gosport), Carole Rudin, Rosie Witcombe, Barbara Davis, Carolyn Way, Dawn Ellis, and John Storey.
