Using your skills and passion for ‘all things green’ will help make our Adoption Centres welcoming, not only to the general public but also to wildlife, greatly enriching the lives of our cats whilst in care. Looking out onto gardens, plants and pots our cats can spend their days watching bees, birds, butterflies and other insects while they wait for their forever home.

+- DIY Volunteers

How you will make a difference to cats and people:
Do you love cats and a bit of DIY and driving? Then spare a couple of hours a week helping around the centre and/or transporting cats. We'd be pleased to hear from you.
What the role involves:
  • Basic DIY including painting,  etc
  • Minor fixes of buildings and cat pens
  • Basic maintenance of our van/s (e.g. water and oil levels)

+- Cat Socialiser    No Vacancies

Main Responsibilities of the role:

Cats have come in from a variety of circumstances and environments and while' some may settle happily into cattery life others may find it difficult to adjust to their new situation.

It is important that whilst in our care cats and kittens receive appropriate socialisation to help them gain confidence and overcome any negative or fearful behaviours. Spending time with people on a regular basis also helps to prevents boredom and depression.

There are many ways of interacting with the-cats. -These include stroking and grooming, playing with a toy or piece of string (never hands as this can teach bad habits!) or simply letting them sit on your knee and enjoy your company. You will soon find out what each cat enjoys and finds beneficial. We ask that you spend ten to twenty minutes with each cat you see during your visit to the Centre. Quality one to one time is better than seeing as many cats as possible.

Required for this role:
  • Ability to commit to a regular day each week.
  • Tetanus vaccination and health declaration.
  • Socialisation Induction.

If the role you are looking to volunteer for isn't available at the moment, please check back often as that could change any time.

What you can gain from volunteering with Cats Protection:
  • The opportunity to make a real difference to cats and kittens on the island.
  • The opportunity to develop new and existing skills.
  • The opportunity to meet new people and work as part of a dedicated team.
  • To gain experience working as a important member of the team in the UK's leading feline welfare charity.

We ask that you make contact with us frequently if you are interested in a voluntary position but there are no vacancies at the time as the avalibility often changes.
