In memory of Smudge

Smudge was a little female tortoiseshell feral cat who has lived in her own little shed in a field at the back of our house for 10 years.  She was fed by at least two households and became remarkably tame purring and head butting your hands when you arrived to feed her.   This week she appeared twitchy and unable to stand properly, she allowed me to lift her into a carrying basket and sadly the vet's prognosis was not good, it looked like a head injury affecting her sight and pain reflex as well her legs.   Hard decision taken to have her put to sleep as hanging on in a strange place with strangers would cause stress.   Her regular company is much missed but we are glad she had the confidence to come to us when in distress.
