Cats Protection joins forces with animal charities for World Spay Day

Cats Protection has joined forces with eight other animal welfare charities to promote World Spay Day 2017. The aim is to encourage cat owners to have their cats spayed or neutered to decrease the number of unwanted cats in the UK.
Recent research shows that 68% of litters in the UK are unplanned – and some of these litters are born to cats who are just four months old. For owners, the advice is simple; have your cat spayed at four months to protect her from getting pregnant.
Male cats should be neutered too, to protect them from catching diseases such as FIV and getting nasty injuries from fighting – a male cat which hasn’t been neutered is much more likely to fight over a female mate. Neutering can also help to stop male cats from spraying indoors. He’s also more likely to stay close to home as a neutered male cat is less likely to stray.
