Cats Protection launches Find-a-human
06 April 2017
Cats Protection is trialling an innovative scheme that enables cats to choose a new owner, rather than the traditional model of humans choosing cats.
The scheme, named Find-a-human, is being trialled at the National Cat Adoption Centre in Chelwood Gate, Sussex. Potential adopters are placed in the cat pens, with cats from the centre choosing their perfect match by indicating which human they’d like to go home with.
National Cat Adoption Centre Manager, Karen Thompson, said: “It makes perfect sense. It is important to match the right cat with the right home and what better way to make this happen than by letting the cats choose for themselves?”
Although the scheme is in its initial stages, there is hope that Find-a-human will be an extension of the current Find-a-cat system used to help home cats in the charity’s care. If the trial is successful, there is a chance that Find-a-human could also be available on our website, complete with online profiles of potential adopters.
“Ideally, we’d like to see it become a digital project,” said Karen Thompson. “It will enable the cats to find their perfect home from the comfort of their pen – and they’ll have great fun using the mouse.”
