Online raffle to claw back funds from cancelled event

17 June 2020
Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Centre is holding an online raffle after its biggest fundraising event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The centre’s Summer Fun Day, usually held annually in July, raises thousands of pounds each year for the charity’s vital cat welfare work.

With this year’s event cancelled, staff have instead set up an online raffle with prizes including a brand new Samsung TV, a Samsung Galaxy tablet and a pamper hamper.

Tickets are £1 each and can be purchased before July 1 by visiting  www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ncac-cats-protectionraffle where there is full terms and conditions. The draw will be held at 10am on July 5 from the charity’s centre in Lewes Road, Chelwood Gate. Winning entrants must be able to collect their prize from the centre, where staff will be following social distancing measures.

Danielle Draper, Manager of Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Centre, said: “The Summer Fun Day is always a great way for local people, supporters and fellow cat lovers to come together to find out more about our work and help raise money for cats in need.  Each year, we raise thousands of pounds to help care for the hundreds of cats and kittens which come to us each year.

“While we’ll miss welcoming visitors at the event this year, we’re really pleased to be able to hold this annual raffle. We have some incredible prizes, and all the money raised will go to helping cats at our centre. Buying a ticket is a great way to continue to support our work, with the added bonus of possibly winning a fantastic prize.”
