Express.co.uk, 4.8.16, Hero Cat receives top honour after putting her own life at risk to save family from fire – A tortoiseshell cat called Tink has been crowned as Cats Protection’s National Cat of the Year after waking her owners from their sleep as deadly white smoke flowed through their house. The couple and their two sons escaped but, in the confusion, Tink became trapped in a cupboard and fell unconscious. Fortunately she was revived by firefighters and was honoured at the awards. One of the judges, Anita Dobson, said: “Tink’s story stood out because it really tugged on my heartstrings.”
