Cat and owner reunited after grand journey

A cat has been reunited with her owner after being found 11 miles away from her home.

Dawn MacAlister was devastated when her cat Spizz, an eleven-year-old female originally adopted from Cats Protection, went missing at the end of February this year.

In hope of finding her beloved pet, she contacted the Isle of Arran branch of Cats Protection. They provided excellent support to Dawn, advising her to search the area and post lost notices around the village as well as to place adverts in local newspapers. Despite the branch providing plenty of assistance, Spizz was unfortunately nowhere to be found.

After eight months, Dawn received a phone call to give her hope that her cat may still be alive.

A friend of Dawn’s had spotted a photo on a social networking site of a stray cat living on the other side of the island, looking remarkably like Spizz. After making contact with the family, Dawn and her cat were happily reunited.

Dawn said: “It is a remarkable story because her return coincided with a sad day for me. I am delighted to have her back home.”
