The branch held its latest pub quiz on Thursday 11th August at our ever popular venue, The Digby in Erdington.
We had a great turn-out, with a total of 17 teams taking part. The quiz and raffle brought in a wonderful £358, bringing the quiz total for the year to date to £986. Fantastic! We couldn’t have done it without your support and generosity, so thanks to all who came along and showed support on such a lovely sunny evening.
The winning team was the virtually unbeatable Catatonic. An extra special win this time because Meryl (pictured top right with Julia and Mark Jones) was also celebrating her birthday!
We were delighted to welcome our new branch treasurer David Crowther along with his wife Chris for their first quiz. Their team of two, code-named 'Oscar', took last place and went home the proud owners of a pair of beautifully decorated wooden spoons. Let’s hope David’s accounting is better than his general knowledge!
Best team name went to ‘Fast Cats,’ who are pictured with their prize sweets, along with two bottles of wine won in the raffle. The wine was generously donated by The Digby so our thanks go to them, as well as the Empire Cinema and Kimono Hair Salon – both in Sutton Coldfield - for donating further raffle prizes. We’re also really grateful to everyone who donates the smaller raffle prizes – every little helps!
This fantastic evening was a fun night for a great cause and would not be possible without the generous help of volunteers like you. We are in need of someone to take up the role of quiz coordinator (and perhaps other events too), so if you could spare a little time to get involved, please do let us know!
Purrs of gratitude to all the volunteers who made the event possible - our quizmaster Adam plus Kathy, Sue, Jenny, Lee, Sheila and Denise and for helping things run smoothly on the night and Brenda for decorating the lovely wooden spoons - the night wouldn’t have been such a success without you all!
Thank you to all who came along, to Digby’s staff and customers for allowing us to take over for the evening. It was great to see so many new faces!
