Cat quiz : the Mousers win ...

The August Cats Protection pub quiz was a big success – raising £400 and the happiest new winner ever!

CP supporter Sue Atkins of Banners Gate went along with Joe Dyke of Wylde Green and three friends from Stourbridge – Graham and Sally Lippiatt and Pauline Bryce – and their team ‘the Mousers’ certainly got the cream! Or rather, a super first prize.

Says the very smiley Sue Atkins: “We really enjoyed the quiz – especially after finding the questions a bit on the difficult side last time. We were so pleased to win Jenny’s scrumptious hamper of jams, marmalades and chutneys.  A lovely prize - and a certificate! We scored 63 out of a possible 70 – and 18 on our chosen joker round”.

Cats Protection volunteer Kathy Porter presented the 'very happy Sue Atkins' with her quiz-winners prize of a hamper of home made jams. Sue's team - the Mousers - topped the score board at the August pub quiz at the Digby.

Sue Morgan, who helps organise the quizzes and lots of other fundraising events, confirms: “Our quizzes have gone from strength to strength since we changed from Thursdays to Monday. This time we raised £400 and had 16 teams taking part. Congratulations to the winning team – the Mousers, and to the winners of the best team name - 'The Flea of Us' – a team of three! Some good rhyming there!”

Volunteer and supporter on the night Jenny Reynolds not only put together the winning prize hamper, but also raised £75 selling her home-made jams. “Everything we do to swell funds for needy cats and kittens in North Birmingham is worth the hard work” says Jen.

Quiz volunteer Sue Morgan has more thanks to extend. “To Digby manager Bec and her staff for looking after everyone so well and for donating two raffle prizes; to Adam Darkes our brilliant quiz caller and Mary Conroy for setting great questions. Plus CP ladies Kathy, Jane, Jen and Lee for adding up the score sheets and generally ensuring that the event was a success. Oh, and a reminder that the date for the next quiz is Monday 25 November. Sharpen up your pencils and your general knowledge, and we will see you all again before Christmas!”
