Miles raise smiles ...

Emma’s miles raise smiles – and £263 for the branch!

North Birmingham Cats Protection social media and digital fundraising volunteer Emma Sharman took part in the ‘Miles for Moggies’ challenge in April – and what a feat for her feet!

Emma successfully completed the challenge - to run a Marathon distance during April - and raised £263 for the North Birmingham branch. She currently lives in Bratislava, Slovakia, so was able to ease the pain a little by taking full advantage of the lovely Central European weather. She went ‘above and beyond’ the challenge distance - running a total of 50km, walking a total of 50km and cycling over 50km. And even managed to get the whole family involved – well, just a little!

Emma has sent us these super photos – herself with a furry friend on her 50km cycle, daughter Imogen, and the three cats she adopted 17 years ago. Says Emma: “I'd like to send a big thank you to everyone who sponsored me! I wasn't expecting to raise so much. We adopted three cats from Cats Protection over 17 years ago - Boo, Tuscan and Tamora. Even though they all had the calicivirus they still survived to ripe old ages and we have supported Cats Protection ever since.”

Editor note: Emma currently lives in Slovakia, but we’re expecting Emma, husband Gregg and children back in their Warwickshire home later this summer when Gregg’s JLR contract abroad ends. When Emma runs out of time in sunnier climes, she’ll perhaps take up the Sutton fun run here and raise even more funds to swell the needy-cats-kitty!
