November pub quiz : winners all ...

Two teams had matching top scores at the last CP pub quiz of the year – so both went away with super Christmas hampers packed full of Jenny’s delicious home-made chutneys and jams. How jammy was that?

Team Fur Balls – comprising Rose, Jonathan and Carol (pictured) and Joy, Chris and Matt – proved a winning combination. They said they ‘usually win a raffle prize, but were delighted to do so well in the quiz itself as to score 56 out of 60 – to become joint winners’.

Team ‘We’ll think about it’ – obviously did think good and hard about the answers to score so highly too. But they did benefit from the brainpower of six members – Sharon (pictured receiving her hamper from CP coordinator Nicole) Veronica, Keith, Richard, Malcolm and Nicole herself.

The young man pictured with the wooden spoons for best losers team – Siamese Twins – is still smiling though we didn't catch his name. And Angela, a vision in yellow, was delighted to collect the ‘best team name’ prize of sweeties and chocolate on behalf of her 5-strong team – the Careless Whiskas. Certainly they were not ‘careless’ about the name they chose, as the Digby staff agreed it was the winner.

Volunteer Sue Morgan, who helps organise the event and is always busy ‘chasing her tail’ checking all is well and adding-up the scores says: “The winning score for both teams was 56 out of a possible 60, and we had six rounds of ten questions. Thanks to Mary Conroy for putting together another great set of quiz questions and to Adam for being quiz caller extraordinaire. And of course to the volunteers who have helped to make all four quizzes this year such a success.

“Twelve teams took part, we raised almost £300, and our total for the year is around £1,400. The hospitality and good service of the Digby management and staff is key so we wish them well for 2020 – may the feline force of the Cats Protection be with us all!”

**Dates for 2020 are 24 February, 18 May, 17 August and 23 November – all Mondays and all at the popular venue of the Digby, Chester Road.
