Black Cat Day: 27th October 2018
26 October 2018
Cats Protection North Herts Branch are delighted that our MP Stephen McPartland, Member of Parliament for Stevenage, supports the work we do to help local cats in need. Our main aims are to rehome unwanted cats, provide neutering assistance to help control the local cat population and to educate people about cats and their needs.
Stephen McPartland MP said, "I am always happy to support national Black Cat Day and delighted Serena pictured with me has now been homed. Cats Protection are an amazing charity and I am proud to have adopted my own black cats from them last year."
North Herts Branch Chairman, Bianca Kubler, added, "the annual Black Cat Day is aimed at encouraging people to adopt a black or black and white cat which make up 40% of all cats given up to Cats Protection.
It takes approximately three months longer to find new homes for them than cats of any other colour. This is illustrated by Serena who stars with Stephen in the photo. Serena came into our care with her black and white sister Venus on 6th June. These were 15 months old, healthy and friendly cats, both have been adopted as a pair today which is great news for them, just a shame it has taken 5 months waiting for a loving home. Sadly we have also taken in another three black cats yesterday so if you are thinking of adopting a cat please look at our Adopt a Cat pages:
