Fundraising success at Stevenage Dogwatch Carnival 2017

30 August 2017
Fundraising success at Stevenage Dogwatch Carnival 2017 Glove puppet Rosie (left) is unable to vote for Stephen McPartland, MP for Stevenage, as she lives just outside his constituency (our branch, looking after SG1-SG7, touches upon at least three parliamentary constituencies) and we do not know the voting intentions of her friend Smudge (right).

Nevertheless, both were very happy to welcome Mr and Mrs McPartland to our stall at Sunday’s annual Stevenage Dogwatch Carnival, an event supported by the police to encourage responsible dog ownership, and in which Cats Protection has been happily involved since its inception some six years ago (in 2016 we even benefited from being their chosen charity).  The sun shone on us, and not only did we have several useful conversations with families needing our help, but we very nearly doubled our takings, compared to last year: thank you to the indefatigable organising team of Dawn, Gemma and Paul, and to our generous customers.
