Thank You to Stevenage Dog Watch!

Thank You to Stevenage Dog Watch!

North Herts Cats Protection, chosen as Stevenage Dog Watch's Charity of the Year for 2016, receives £1,006 donation!

You may have heard of the ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ scheme, bringing neighbours together to help create safer neighbourhoods. Dog Watch is a similar scheme, but specifically for dog walkers who can sign up to the scheme and become additional eyes and ears for the Community Police Service while out walking their dogs.

Stevenage Dog Watch was founded in 2009. It helps keep Stevenage a safe and strong community and also holds fun events for all the family, raising funds for charities.

They hold two mini-fairs each summer in the Stevenage Town Centre Gardens, with a mixture of stalls including animal charities (of which North Herts Cats Protection is always one!) and with various dog competitions including ‘Dog with the waggliest tail’.  The police are usually there and sometimes nobly take part in the dogs’ obstacle course, which can be thoroughly entertaining.  It’s always a very pleasant event, bustling with people and, of course, dogs!

We were absolutely delighted to find out that Stevenage Dog Watch chose us as their Charity of the Year for 2016, which means that proceeds from their events in 2016 have been kindly donated to us, which is the fantastic amount of £1,006!  We were flabbergasted at this donation - this money will really help the cats that come into our care.

So, on behalf of all of us at North Herts Cats Protection, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Stevenage Dog Watch!

To find out more about Stevenage Dog Watch, you can find them on Facebook.  The next Stevenage Dog Watch event that we will have a stall at is on 4th June 2017 (see our Events pages).
