North Walsham Branch Neutering Campaign

20 April 2021
North Walsham Branch Neutering Campaign One of the main aims of Cats Protection is to encourage people to have their cats neutered and our branch is fully committed to this. We run a neutering campaign designed to assist cat owners who need some assistance with the cost.

Cats Protection has recently announced procedures for obtaining help for people on low incomes and benefits to neuter their cats.  This is being introduced gradually and not all vets are joining the scheme.

We have been offering help for people under our special Neutering Campaign for several years and for those vets that we use who do not wish to join the scheme we have decided to offer the same benefits.

From 1st August 2023 anyone applying via our Neutering Line, will need to send £10, rather than the existing £5, to the Branch.  We will then contact them to obtain additional information and send the voucher direct to their preferred vets.  The extra £5 will cover the cost of microchipping their cat at the same time as it has the operation.  The cat will also be sent home with pain relief.

Some of the vets we use have decided to try the new scheme, but Westover in North Walsham, Caister/Rollesby (part of the Westover Group), Rackheath Vets and Miramar in Sheringham will continue to work with us.

Feral cats will continue at present to be dealt with as per normal using the above vets plus Bridge at Wroxham, Bure Valley, Aylsham and Cromer Vets.

To qualify for help the person applying will need to live in the postcode areas we cover, which are NR10, NR11, NR12, NR13, NR24, NR25, NR26, NR27, NR28 and NR29, and you will need to be in receipt of benefits or low income.

The vouchers cost £10 each, the remainder of the vet bill is met by Cats Protection North Walsham Branch. To apply, please 'phone the neutering line on 07880 256 948 to check to see if you are eligible and, providing you are, you will be then advised where to send the payment. We will need your name, address and telephone number together with the cat(s) names, their age and also the sex of each one to enable completion of the vouchers.

We will also need to know which veterinary practice you will be using. As soon as we are in receipt of your payment we will contact you and advise you when the voucher will be issued. Please allow a few days for the voucher to reach your chosen veterinary practice before calling the vet to arrange the appointment for your cat(s) operation.

Our preferred method of contact is by telephone.
