Adopt a cat

Adoption procedures are in place that include a Home Visit via Video Call.  Adoption paperwork and proof of address is completed via email.  Once everything has been completed and a cat matched with adopter; the Adoption Fee is paid in advance via a bank transfer to the branch.

Our Facebook page and YouTube Channel have photos and videos too.

All cats taken into the care of Cats Protection are vet checked to ensure they are healthy, Neutered/ Spayed (if they are old enough from 16 weeks old), Microchipped, Worm/ Flea treated, given their First vaccination (2nd vaccination 3-4 weeks later and included in the adoption fee of £100) and assessed for personality before being considered for rehoming.

We evaluate your needs too and try to ensure that we find you your perfect partner.  After all, we hope you'll be together for a very long time!

** Please note: All potential adopters require a Video Call Home-Visit first.  Please arrange this with us even though you have not seen a cat that matches you yet.  This means that you have everything in place should a cat come into care and can be instantly matched to your circumstances. **  Apply via our 'Contact Us' form if there are no cats currently listed for adoption that match your circumstances and provide us with as much information about your home set-up as possible: Contact-us

If you have never owned a cat before and are anxious about becoming a cat guardian, we will be happy to give you as much advice and support as you need.  We have a lot of experience that we will gladly pass on.  Please also visit our main Cats Protection website for information on welcoming a new cat to your home and how to prepare, as well as all things cat health, behaviour and much much more: www.cats.org.uk/cat-care

If you wish to rehome one of our cats, please select their profile and click on ''Contact us about this cat'' to complete an application form.  Applications are considered before we choose the most suitable match for the cat's needs, so please tell us a little bit about yourself and your home circumstances that match the cat you are applying for.

Cats Protection asks for an adoption fee (£100) when you adopt a cat.  If you feel able to make a donation on top of this covering more of the veterinary costs, food and care costs, that would of course, be very gratefully received.  Thank you for your decision to rehome a Cats Protection cat.

We understand things happen in life and personal circumstances change. These situations mean you find yourself making the very difficult decision to rehome your cat.  To help us find the best possible home and perfect match for your puss cat's needs, please provide us with as much information about your cat's personality, behaviour and health at the outset.  This speeds-up the rehoming process for your cat and reduces the stress for them being held in care longer than is necessary.  Having lots of cute pictures and videos of your cat in your home setting looking relaxed, as well as a short story describing them for a potential new family also enables the rehoming process to move along quickly. Please include: Your name, Address, Telephone contacts. Your Cat's Veterinary Practice name, Is your cat Neutered/Spayed? Microchipped? Vaccinated and up-to-date? Flea/wormed last treatment date?
