Cat charity gears up to put cash in the kitty

Cats Protection’s Oxford and District is serving up a novel “bangers for cash” initiative asking people to donate their unwanted vehicles to raise money for local moggies.

The charity has teamed up with Giveacar - a social enterprise which collects unwanted and unused cars for charity and turns scrap into cash.

“If your engine is no longer purring, cars are collected free of charge nationwide, regardless of condition,” said Branch Leader, Brendan O’Neill.  “By choosing to donate it to us, we can get from £40 upwards for each car that is scrapped or reclaimed.

“It would make such a difference as we desperately need more money to help the over 40  unwanted and abandoned cats currently in our care while they wait to find loving new homes.”

For further information on the scheme, go to www.giveacar.co.uk or contact our branch on 01235221147 or email coordinator@oxford.cats.org.uk. Please remember to choose Cats Protection and mention the Oxford and District branch.

Cats Protection’s Oxford and District is part of a national network of around 250 volunteer-run branches and 37 centres that together help around 200,000 cats and kittens each year. The charity’s vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.
