30th birthday celebrations a great success!
14 June 2015
We celebrated our 30th birthday in style with a party at the Loxley Centre in Werrington.
Our visual guest of honour was 23-year-old Chloe, who was adopted from us 23 years ago – making her the cat that was adopted the longest time ago from our branch. Unfortunately Chloe’s owner was unable to attend our event, however her daughter and son-in-law were delighted to attend on her behalf. We presented Sally and Steve Taylor a gift of cat food as a thank you for their support and to celebrate such a fantastic achievement. Sally said that her mum was delighted to hear that Chloe was the oldest adopted cat and that she enjoys her days relaxing with her at their home in Woodhall Spa.
Visitors were able to take in a range of stalls at the event, including jewellery, giftware, henna, face painting, crafting with Hobby craft, tombola along with a raffle and refreshment stall.
We also ran a bake-off competition with two categories judged by Lyn Lockwood, our Regional Manager and local councillors for Werrington North, John and Judy Fox. Best decorated cat themed cake was won by Cathy from at edible-creations and best tasting celebration cake was also won by Cathy! Thanks to everyone who entered and for making it great fun! We especially enjoyed tasting the lovely selection of entries.
The cat themed cakes were auctioned off to raise money which will support us in our work. Along with the tombola and raffle, the event raised £525.31
It was great to see so many familiar faces at the event, so thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a fantastic day, and of course to our volunteers for their hard work in making the event such a success.
Of course that’s not the end of our 30th anniversary celebrations. Our Challenge 30 fundraising appeal is going full steam ahead and is a chance for everyone to get involved in raising money for the branch so we can continue helping cats and kittens in need.
The idea of Challenge 30 is to raise funds by taking part in activities based around the number 30. Of course, we don’t mind if you add a zero or two to your 30 and make it 300 or 3000!
We’ve set up a Just Giving page, https://www.justgiving.com/Cats-Protection-Peterborough, through which you can easily donate to us, or you can set up your own event under the main Cats Protection page for your friends to sponsor you. All you need to do is make sure you mention that you’re raising funds for the Peterborough Branch which will ensure any monies come to us. Alternatively we can supply sponsor forms for you to collect money. For further information contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0345 371 2750.
