A new pen!

29 April 2015
A new pen! We're continuing to invest in the future of the branch, and the welfare of our cats in care, with an ongoing replacement programme for our old cat pens. This week we replaced Spook's Pen, a traditional wooden 3 foot single pen in Preston, with a new Lindee Lu UPVC 4 foot pen. It will still be known as Spook's Pen. The cost of the pen, delivery, installation, and connection of electricity to provide heat and light comes to well over £3,000. Donations towards the cost would be very gratefully received.

Spook's Pen is named in memory of Spook, a beloved cat that belonged to the Harrison family of Penwortham. When Spook passed away they joined our branch pen sponsorship scheme, and the pen was named in recognition of that.

Currently our branch has 27 cattery pens which are looked after by 17 volunteer fosterers. Last year we replaced one ageing pen (in Preston), and invested in a new double pen in Chorley. This year we have installed a new UPVC double pen in Leyland, and replaced another ageing single pen in Preston. It is vitally important that our pens are maintained to the best possible standard for the welfare of the cats in our care, but of course it is an expensive commitment.
