Are you eligible to get your cat neutered for free?
14 April 2019
Neutering is the only effective way to reduce the number of unwanted, neglected and stray cats in the UK. However, many owners are not neutering their cats due to the cost. Cats Protection might be able to help. The Cat Care & Control Consortium (
C4 scheme) is an initiative jointly funded by a number of London-based animal welfare charities, inlcuding Cats Protection.
The scheme offers free or discounted neutering for cats within the M25 area whose owners receive certain state benefits, are on a low income or are students. The scheme also includes the neutering of stray cats that are being temporarily fed.
The first thing you need to do is
find out if you are eligible for the scheme.
If you meet the criteria, you then need to locate your nearest participating vet and quote '
London C4 neutering scheme'. You don't have to contact us first because the vet will have all the information and paperwork needed to help you.
However, if you have any questions then you can always get in touch by calling the Cats Protection helpline on 03000 12 12 12.

C4 scheme website for more information.
