Zac, the exclusive interview
Name: Zac (also known as gorgeous boy)
Age: Four and a quarter
Breed: Tabby and white and proud of it
Feature Page Editor (you can see me hard at work on my Feature Page) kitchen assistant, especially when it's chicken, mouse hole guarding and boundary patrol of two gardens. Sammy over the fence and I share as two cats are better than one to see off big bad Tommy from up the road. If Tommy ventures into our territory we escort him to the gate in a very firm manner!
What are your favourite foods?
As mentioned chicken. Oh and roast beef, and those little pots of prawns which mum gets me for a treat. I'm also quite partial to a tongueful of double cream on special occasions!
What are your favourite toys?
The green ping pong ball and the feathered thingie. Mum puts fir cones in the bowl on the hall table especially for me to whack out up and down the hall
Who is your best friend?
Sammy over the fence. We've been bessi mates since we met on top of the fence when we were young whippersnappers. He's the same age as me and almost as handsome
Do you have a motto?
No matter what you’ve done wrong, always try to make it look like the dog did it
What are your favourite pastimes?
Sleeping and eating of course, and rolling in the Catnip, and staking out the shrubbery to watch the antics of those pesky Pigeons in next door's garden. Ooh the liberties! Sammy and I think we'll have to do boundary patrol over there as well because they don't have a cat
Most liked and disliked?
I love being cuddled by mummy and I hate the evil vacuum cleaner
What's your favourite quote?
"I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, and see the cat smiling into her fur as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue. Cat, I would lend you this book to study but ti appears you have already read it. She looks up and gives me her full gaze. Don't be ridiculous, she purrs, I wrote it" From "Miao" by Dilys Laing
Who do you most admire?
Gemini and George, the "founding felines" of catchat.org the website dedicated to helping cats in care to find a new home. They help lots of rescues including Cats Protection. Assisted by a small group of human helpers, Gemini and George have helped thousands of cats just like me to find their new forever home
Cats Protection took me in as an eight week old kitten. A lady had telephoned the helpline to say that her two cats had four kittens each within two days of each other and needed financial help to have them both neutered. The rescue said that once my siblings and I were weaned it would take them in and find loving homes for each of us. I was found a good home but I had to come back into care after five days because my new mum’s son developed an allergy to cat hair. It was nearly two months before I found my forever home because homing had slowed right down due to it being the holiday season, and when it picked up they were saying I was too old when they wanted a kitten or too young when they wanted a cat! The rescue found another lovely home for me with a couple who had a young son. I am very happy and we play with the toy cars together
Cats of all ages come into care for lots of different reasons. Some of them are even as gorgeous as I am. So if you feel you can offer a second chance for a happy home to one of the cats in our Adoption Gallery then please contact us
p.s. don't forget to check out my Feature page each month as I'll be letting you know how the branch is doing and offering advice and information on all things feline
Love and purrs
