Join the Team

cartoon catHave you some time that you would like to spend doing work for your local branch? Whether it is for a few hours a month or a weekly commitment

If you've thought about volunteering it might surprise you to see the range of opportunities available. Not all volunteering roles require you to come into contact with the cats in our care. We have volunteers who only help with fundraising, publicity, newsletters, website and Facebook, issuing neutering vouchers and membership

If you have a few hours a week to spare to help a small friendly team, or perhaps a few hours a month, or every few months, we would love to hear from you

People person?
If you are good with people, you could be an ideal candidate for visiting the homes of prospective new cat owners. You could also be a great help at fundraising events. We need volunteers to help us with our street collections and to promote us through our stalls at local events and shows and to help us recruit and manage our volunteers Or be the branch Assistant Welfare Officer. Alternatively, you could use those people skills to promote the branch to the local press, or maybe even try your hand at giving talks to local community groups or schools

volunteers with ktitenWant to be hands on?
If you really want to get close to the cats and kittens in our care, there are several hands-on roles available. These range from taking care of them on a day-to-day basis, to transporting them to their fosterers or the vets

Please visit the Volunteering pages for full information about the roles vacant. If you like being outdoors you could help by trapping ferals for our trap neuter and release work or helping to catch garden born kittens with their mum so they can be socialised to a life of domestic bliss

Good organiser?
If your skills fall into the ‘well organised’ category, there are plenty of roles that will suit you within the branch. From Recruitment Officer looking after our volunteers or Fundraising Team Leader organising fundraising events, or Fostering Officer looking after our team of fosterers there is so much that you can do to help. Or you could drive for the branch collecting cat food, toys and bedding or tombola items for us from people who want to donate goods
Good communicator?
If you have strong communication skills - whether thus is face-to-face, over the phone, in writing or online, we’d love to hear from you! From writing regular newsletters either hard copy or online to giving advice and information to enquirers, there are plenty of ways in which you can help the branch to promote Cats Protection and its work in the area. Most of this can be done at a time which best suits you so even if you work unusual hours you can fit this into your free time

Creative or Crafty?
We always need fresh and creative ideas for fundraising events and campaigns. Or you can make cat related items to sell at our fundraising events, or put the online newsletter together whilst other volunteers contribute the copy

We are looking for more drivers to help us. Can you spare any time to help drive our cats to
their new homes, take them to the vets, pick up donations from the public and any other driving
related jobs? If you can spare a few hours a month, please contact our helpline and put your name forward

We would like to build a small team of field workers that could be mobilised when needed.
Similar to fundraisers, they would be involved with the branch, but not on a day to day or
week to week basis - just when needed. If you would like to become involved please
contact our helpline and put your name forward

Could you be an emergency 'as and when' fosterer, who would offer a short-term stay for
a cat or a mum and her kittens at short notice, until they can be taken in elsewhere?
