Volunteering

How our volunteers see their work with Cats Protection

‘Volunteering for Cats Protection is a fun and rewarding experience, particularly if you have a skill that would benefit the charity or would like to develop new skills by taking on a fresh challenge. Our volunteers gain a great deal of satisfaction helping cats get a second chance in life.’

‘My driving force is to work towards a day when people take responsibility for the moggy. If the branch can help one tiny kitten, one injured cat or neuter one feral then together we have made a difference.’

‘I thoroughly enjoy seeing a group from diverse backgrounds working together to achieve a common goal. I also greatly admire the volunteers that sacrifice their time to make a change.’

As a small branch we are always in need of volunteers and below is a list of jobs we currently have vacancies for:

Fosterers
Fundraisers to help at events
Bakers (a food safety qualification would be helpful)
Collector and distributor of coin collection boxes from/to shops etc.
Photographer and printer of photos of cats in our care for rehoming notices
Someone with IT experience to help with our website and Facebook page (a good standard of literacy is necessary).
Someone to print and put up posters to advertise fundraising events
Welfare Officer
Homing Officer

If you are interested in any of these roles, please contact us via the ‘Contact Us’ page or call 01726 817837.

Once you have decided to join our team of volunteers you will be invited to have an informal chat.  This is not only a chance for you to learn what we do but for us to see what role you would like to play in our organisation and what skills and experience you have which will benefit the Branch.

Volunteer fosterer

Across Cats Protection there are thousands of cats and kittens needing temporary homes until they find their forever families. Many of our feline friends are cared for by volunteer fosterers in their homes or in purpose built pens in their gardens. Most of our volunteer fosterers care for one or two cats at a time, which makes a huge difference and gives these cats a second chance at a happy life. They provide vital hands on care and accommodation to stray, abandoned or injured cats and are part of a dedicated team of volunteers committed to finding new homes for cats in need.

Transport Volunteer

Our transport volunteers help our teams and volunteer groups move equipment, litter, food, money – and even cats! They have the vital role of connecting our network of volunteers, sites, vets and donors. Without them we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats each year that rely on us as they enable our volunteer groups and teams to effectively help our feline friends.

Volunteer re-homing team leader

At Cats Protection we will continue to find new homes for cats and kittens in need until our work around information, education and neutering reduces the long-term need for homing. Life in a rescue environment is never ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Our rehoming team leaders support a team of volunteer home visitors who collectively play an important part in matching our feline friends with their new families.
